If you can’t say something nice, say something funny. But make sure it’s actually funny and not just sadly depressing.
And if you write something accidentally sadly depressing and not quite funny, and post it say… in a chat in an online staff meeting when prompted to write an analogy about teachers, hope that no one reads it out loud. Twice.
And if you are leading a staff meeting in the final quarter of a long year during a global pandemic, maybe don’t sound so surprised when one of your teachers feels like a dried up white board marker.
