From the archives…

After my last post, my mother observed that I had “a lot of words” for one old coat. Why thank you. I DO have a lot of words.

The metaverse confirmed my wordfulness, sending me two Facebook memories with equally wordy compositions on the subject of not much at all. Rather than seeing this as a sign I need to pursue some proper hobbies and potentially deepen my understanding of politics, culture, or even entertainment, I am going to celebrate the excessiveness of my style and the banality of my thoughts by sharing this piece from my archives, previously limited to only “friends” but now shared with the world. It is some of my best work.

It has come to my attention that my habits may not be socially acceptable. At least to one teenager who was an unwilling participant in a conversation I had with my coworker yesterday.

Me: “Oh! I didn’t want you to see me today. When I see you at the workshop tomorrow, you’ll realize I’m wearing the same clothes as today!”

I admit this aloud, clearly because I know it’s a little lazy, but it’s okay, because going to a conference an hour away on a Saturday is clearly not a lazy endeavour.

My coworker smiled with nonjudgmental acceptance. But the teenage student shook her head in confusion.

Me: “Why are you looking at me like that? You’re judging me! Don’t judge me!!”

Student [ in sincere confusion]: “Why would you wear the same clothes tomorrow?”

Me: “Because I’m lazy and it’s super easy to drop my clothes from today on the floor tonight, then pick them up and put them on tomorrow morning. No decision making.”

Student: [shakes head in judgemental disbelief.]

From this I have concluded that
A) I may make questionable decisions about fashion.
B) She has a better wardrobe than I have.

I am now also wondering if I’m the only one who does this. And is it possible that my decision to pull things out of the laundry to wear is also shameful.(I smell them first).

Alas, I spilled dinner on my clothes from yesterday, so I had to pull clothes from the “earlier this week” pile while I dressed for work on Saturday morning at 6am. Despite this unexpected challenge, I got here early and had time to share my story with you.
