Down the Rabbit Hole

I have just spent the last two+ hours scouring various drives for THE FILE that contains my original blog posts from way back when.  While I cannot seem to find what I remember to be my first ever venture into blogging – cat blog, there’s a cat blog somewhere — I have been able to access my Xanga archives, now safely imported to WordPress.

I’ve been lost down this Rabbit Hole before. It must be something about these dark winter evenings.  For example…

December 16, 2016
Narcissism at its best: I spent an hour today copying and pasting my earliest facebook posts into a document for future use in a book. Based on what I read today, the title of my book is going to be called, “I think I’m hilarious: then, now, forever.”

Conclusions from my excavation?

1.  I am hilarious.

2.  Lists are the best form of writing, and should be their own genre along with poetry and prose. There’s a poetry to this unquestionably wonderful form of prose.

3.  My life was equally banal then: lack of sleep, marking, gym work outs vs eating too much, diet coke (replace with caramel macchiatos in 2016), martinis (replace with red wine in 2016).

4.  I’ve been on Facebook for almost 10 years.

5. 1 in every 20 posts contains a hidden gem.

6. At today’s rate, it will take me 9 hours to continue the process I started today. And what exactly will I have?

7.  Facebook posts offer irrefutable evidence that what plagued me then plagues me now.

8.  Marking seems to be an ever present issue in my life (for those of you who think I only ever post about wine and dogs)

9. Before dogs, there was a Cat.

10.  Before facebook there was Xanga and bellinibellini and for a short time there was BOTH.

(my fb archives)

And so it goes.  Then, Now, Forever — a variation on a theme.
