Dog Walker’s Weather Report:

[EXT. PARK. darkness and rain]

I’m grateful we had one week of puppy training when it wasn’t raining, where we could quickly take Sammi outside to pee a million times a day or night without worrying about how to put a jacket and shoes on while holding her so she didn’t pee inside.

She’s worth it… so cute!

I have no regrets about my recent purchase, waterproof runners [unsponsored ad for Salomon Supercross GTX] that keep my feet dry.

I do regret I haven’t spent at least as much on a proper rain jacket. On days such as these, I think longingly of my days at UBC when I took out a student loan to buy a proper rainy day (every day) jacket. It was sort of an assumed student expense when hiking from the B Lot. Why, in my current life as a dog mama, have I not prioritized this essential item.

On Thursday morning, I looked pretty silly in my pink puffy jacket, holding my umbrella in front of me like a viking shield wall.

Lewis, on the other hand, was delighted to have his forty minutes of freedom from Sammi. Even though I’m miserably wet,  I love that he is happy to be outside. And I’ll love it more when I’m not soaked.

Any recommendations for weatherproof jackets? Goals: the hood stays on, even on dark and stormy mornings,  the pocket zippers keep the dog cookies crunchy,  and the back is long enough to keep my bum dry.
