We got Covid (almost positively), but due to long waits for testing, we couldn’t get tested: all the shame, none of the glory.
For the first time ever, SS6000 and I were sick at home together. I am happy to report that we are still married. We commemorated this milestone with shots of Benylin.
We passed the time with excessive amounts cribbage and TV. So…some things were normal, except we drank herbal tea and snacked on throat lozenges.
I knew I was really sick when I couldn’t work on my puzzle. And then I thought, while every muscle and bone ached, how do people with children survive this? Despite vaccinations, this was worse than the Man Cold, but we were able to return to work in just over a week.
My greatest accomplishments during this time were maintaining my Duolingo Streak — currently 92 days! — without using a streak freeze (Me siento enferma. No quiero caminar o beber vinto tinto. Pero aprendo espanol es muy importante.) and starting to play Wordle. Bueno!
SSS earned the Badge of Honour for his commitment to daily dog walking. Skipping my morning walk was the second symptom I experienced (well, that actually might have been the fever). I am now suspicious that our dogs don’t actually NEED as much exercise as we think they do.
Lewis, hoping to boost his social media profile, posted a Bark on Woofer claiming this “a global conspiracy… to test just how far they can go to control us”. He then sat nicely for a cookie and went back to sleep.
The dogs are filing a complaint with the Canine Rights Commission and seeking reparations from the Canadian Government as compensation for the impact this has had on their daily walks.
I am grateful to now be able to walk up the stairs without contemplating the necessity of this energy expenditure and complete daily tasks without pitiful moans and sighs.
(I’m mindful that not all have been so lucky. Stay healthy friends.)
