The past is the present

When it comes to school related thoughts, it seems my things don’t change from year to year. If FB would have shared this memory with me a month ago, I might have been inspired to come up with a Halloween costume.

From the Archives…October 29, 2020

“Dress up for school? It’s the day before Halloween, so slightly less motivated. I do admire those teachers that go all out. One year I’ll think ahead and buy a cool costume. Shakespeare Zombie? Alice in Covidland?

Last year I dressed as a dog walker, an excuse for comfy clothes and a hat. I’m debating “Covid Karen” -not the scary mask I complained about last month, but rather the lazy dresser I was when teaching from home. I also considered dressing as a student with hoody and a massive Google Classroom To-do list trailing out of my pocket and an hourglass running out of time (but that seemed a little mean).

Ultimately, it might be too much energy to come up with an excuse to be a lazy dresser tomorrow, then justify it all day long. I’ll just dress as a middle aged English teacher. That’s pretty frightening to begin with.”

Alas, my words from one year ago remain true today…except I managed to pull together this minimalist ( aka lazy) costume:

Cheers to all of you who love this dress up holiday and go all out. Maybe next year I’ll care more about about costume than the coffee crisps.
